Realis Estates was joined by 15 times World Darts Champion, Phil “the Power” Taylor to launch the marketing of City Sentral – its £350 million redevelopment of the old East West Centre in Stoke-on-Trent city centre – at the UK’s most important retail property conference and exhibition BCSC.
At a dedicated launch event held on Thursday 21 September in Manchester, Realis Estate’s MD Duncan Mathieson introduced the project – one of the most important new schemes in the UK retail property development pipeline. A proud, lifelong Stoke-on-Trent resident, Phil Taylor spoke about his memories of the city, the decline of the area’s traditional industries and the future – most particularly the positive impact City Sentral will have as part of the renaissance of the city.
He also spoke about his preparation for the next World Professional Darts Championship before joining Duncan and Cllr Mark Meredith of Stoke-on-Trent City Council on the oche for a game of darts – which Phil naturally won.
Duncan Mathieson, commented: “We have had an absolutely fantastic time at BCSC. It was the first time we showcased our development to the retail property industry and the response has been incredible. It was great to hear such positive views on the project from Phil “The Power” Taylor who knows Stoke-on-Trent better than any of us – we wish him every success at the World Championship later this year. The discussions we have had with retailers and their advisors at BCSC make us confident that we will be able to announce further lettings shortly.”
