Realis Estates has secured three lettings at The Rushes Shopping Centre in Loughborough to further strengthen the scheme’s retail line up.
Argos and Muffin Break are the latest arrivals at the 225,000sq ft (20,900 sq m) Leicestershire centre, whilst HMV – which has been trading on a short term lease since last year – has signed up for a long term deal.
The trio join a number of top class retail and leisure operators at The Rushes, including Marks & Spencer, TK Maxx, JJB Sports and LA Fitness.
Argos has agreed to take a 4,200 sq ft (390 sqm) unit on a five year deal, whilst Muffin Break has signed up for 1,300 sq ft (120 sqm) of retail space for 10 years. HMV has committed to the 1,900 sq ft (175 sqm) unit it has occupied since late 2009 for a further five years.
Realis Estates is part of a group of companies that has been actively involved in retail development for over 30 years. Last year, Realis secured outline planning consent for the East West Centre redevelopment in Stoke-on-Trent City Centre. The scheme, which will include up to 685,000 sq ft (63,700 sqm) of retail space, is scheduled to start on site in early 2011 and open in 2014.
Duncan Mathieson, Managing Director of Realis Estates, commented: “These latest deals fit perfectly with our strategy of bringing some of the country’s best loved brands to Loughborough town centre. Argos and Muffin Break are both important additions to the line-up at The Rushes, whilst HMV’s decision to commit for the long term is a real vote of confidence in the scheme. 2010 is shaping up to be another strong year at The Rushes, with these lettings following on from the opening of a new Tesco store a few months ago. We have a number of additional deals currently in the pipeline.”
