Realis Estates has secured full planning permission for its 435,000 sq ft retail and leisure development Unity Walk in Stoke-on-Trent. Its plans were approved by Stoke-on-Trent City Council earlier today, which will transform the southern end of the city centre.
Securing planning permission now enables Realis to advance discussions to relocate the existing occupiers of the site in order to get vacant possession. This will then allow demolition to commence, which it is anticipated will start later this year.
The scheme, which Realis is planning to build on the site of the East West Centre and the former bus station, will be anchored by M&S and Next alongside a 10-screen The Light Cinema, which it is expected will also include Staffordshire’s first IMAX.
The planning application for Unity Walk was produced by Matthew Williams, a Director of specialist planning consultants Williams Gallagher Town Planning Solutions. Unity Walk was designed by architects Benoy.
In addition, a team of specialist advisors have added their expertise in order to help ensure the application was successful. These include transport consultant WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff; mechanical and electrical engineers Arup; structural engineer Waterman; quantity surveyor iGleeds; and landscape architect Fira
